Bit of Magic: An Upper Peninsula Icestorm

Last weekend, an icestorm swept through Michigan's Upper Peninsula leaving a delicate, ephemeral world in its wake. It's difficult to convey pure enchantment in mere words. How to capture the magic of an ice-covered forest sparkling on a winter's day?

The tinkling of tiny icicles in the breeze?

The charm of a perching chickadee encompassed by a glimmer of colors reflecting the sunlight? A red poll in a nook rimmed by icy fringe?

The moon sailing just beyond a glimmering, ice-covered birch?

It seemed best to let the land speak for itself. After combing through the literally hundreds of photos and videos I took over the weekend, this video came together, but it still only hints at the mystic beauty we were privileged to live in for those particularly spellbinding days.
